Vertex LCD Inc. a leading manufacturer and integrator of custom designed display enhancement solutions for military, avionics and ground mobile applications today announced two color TFT display models that features Night Vision Imaging System (NVIS) compliant LED (light-emitting diode) backlighting system. Both 5.0-in VGA and 10.4-in XGA Dual Mode High Bright Daylight Viewable/Night Vision LCD models meet NVIS Mil-3009 Type1 or Type II NVIS standards. Designed for high brightness in high ambient conditions and low light NVIS filtered applications, Vertex LCD displays can be used in the full range of NVIS applications, including displays in military aircraft cockpits, tanks, trucks, ground mobile applications, and a broad range of other applications.
The operational benefits of the NVIS LED backlighting system include increased sunlight readability; reduced power consumption, along with enhanced unit life and reliability and a dimming capability from full brightness to zero nits.

Vertex LCD “Adaptive Transflective” Technology (ATTTM) enhances transmissive performance by achieving greater viewability and higher brightness in ambient light/sunlight, as well as contrast improvements. Through our advanced optical enhancement capabilities, Vertex LCD ATTTM can improve traditional transmissive CCFL/LED-backlit LCD panels 600 cdm2 in ambient light conditions to 1500 cdm2, utilizing Vertex LCD custom designed backlight unit system.

PLACENTIA, Calif. – May 14, 2008 – Vertex LCD Inc., a leading manufacturer of custom designed display enhancement solutions for military, avionics and ground mobile applications as well as commercial and industrial applications, has developed energy-efficient LED monitors for commercial applications .
Vertex LCD has enhanced LCD panels with energy-saving environmental features by replacing CCFL BLU's with custom LED (Light Emitting Diode) backlight units designed to optimize viewing in low ambient lighting conditions. Its latest 15.0 inch LCD panel offers reduced power consumption by 50% from 20 watts to 10 watts, while maintaining or increasing display brightness.
Vertex LCD LED backlighting technology successfully addresses customers concerns for power consumption and energy-efficient LCD panels. “This significant reduction in power equates to lower cost in energy bills for customers.” said Sonny Burkett, Chief Marketing Officer, Vertex LCD. “a good example of this shows one of our retail customers will save approximately half million dollars yearly in energy costs through investing in our low-powered Green LCD monitors.”
